My name is Matthew Burns and I also go by Champs when I DJ and perform.
I create amazing experiences on the dancefloor and behind the mic‚ wherever I play.

I like to be very open and accommodating to everyone. We are an inclusive entertainment business open to everyone‚ including LGBTQ+ clients. My pronouns are he/him and I'm a proud ally. Hate has no place here.
We are available for all types of wedding events and ceremonies and enjoy including all sorts of traditions. Every tradition‚ whether it's been performed for thousands of years or it's the first time it's being done‚ is a beautiful expression of love and commitment and deserves to be celebrated!

I owe my interest in music to the little town in Pennsylvania's Allegheny Mountains where I grew up. A little mountain town I saw from the passenger seat of my mom's car on the drive to and from the sitter's house every work day of the week. It was the age of the cassette tape and she was a big fan of classic rock: David Bowie‚ Alice Cooper‚ The Cars‚ The Rolling Stones. Most of the time her cassettes were playing instead of the radio everywhere we went.
As I got older I started listening to hip-hop‚ rap music and electronic music. I had this idea of becoming a DJ‚ and I couldn't shake it off.
Leaving that tiny Pennsylvania town‚ moving to Pittsburgh with no car‚ and taking two jobs in restaurants‚ I was going to do anything to make it in Pittsburgh. Two years later‚ I got my first job in IT‚ and after that I found out about the electronic music scene.
The first real EDM show that I went to was in 2015‚ and what a feeling! The experience‚ the atmosphere‚ the music‚ everything was crazy‚ and I wanted to create that myself. Then I started making mixes and playlists and putting that energy into my own sound.
But enough about me‚ what does this mean for you? It means you're getting a DJ with real technical expertise and a genuine passion for making your event unforgettable.
I've been DJing live and streaming professionally since 2019‚ and with that there is a great deal of knowledge you amass‚ from reading a room to running a mic to keeping the energy at just the right level.
I also began providing entertainment services for private events and weddings in 2023. I have booked more than a dozen private events and weddings since then‚ and have progressed as an entertainer‚ an MC and in service to my clients.
Because of my background with livestreaming and production‚ I can not only DJ your event‚ but video and audio record it to give you something to remember for years to come!
From 2025 to 2026, I attended the Pittsburgh DJ Summit, a two-day conference with presentations and workshops from some of the best wedding and event DJs in the country. I networked with fellow DJs and event industry professionals to improve my skills, specifically for clients like you.

I've mixed many genres, so I can blend pop, hip-hop, country, Latin, R&B, and classic rock, whatever your party likes.
My production and technology background also makes me skilled at video and audio editing. If you're putting on a big event, you should have a way to relive it. I started this company to combine traditional DJing with modern technology.
