WHY THIS MATTERS MORE THAN PRICE

Every DJ can tell you their price. Far fewer can answer these questions clearly and confidently, and the answers say a lot more about how your wedding day is actually going to go than the number on the quote does.

EXPERIENCE & RELIABILITY

How many weddings have you played, and can I see video of you actually running one, not just a mix?
Have you worked at my venue before, or a similar one?
What happens if you personally get sick or can't make it?

EQUIPMENT & BACKUP

What happens if your main sound system fails during our reception?
Do you bring backup equipment, or a backup plan at minimum?
What's included: speakers, mixer, wireless mics, lighting? What costs extra?

PLANNING & COORDINATION

Will we have a planning call or meeting before the wedding?
Will you coordinate directly with my planner, photographer, and venue on the day-of timeline?
How do you handle must-play and do-not-play song lists?
Who's actually running the mic for introductions, toasts, and announcements?

CONTRACT & PROTECTION

Is there a written contract, and what does it cover if plans change?
Do you carry liability insurance? (Many Pittsburgh venues require vendors to have it.)
What's your deposit and cancellation policy?

WHAT A GOOD ANSWER SOUNDS LIKE

A prepared DJ won't hesitate on any of these. They'll talk specifics: a real backup plan, a real planning process, a real contract. A vague answer, or a DJ who seems annoyed to be asked, is itself useful information. This is your wedding day, and it's reasonable to interview a vendor the way you'd interview anyone else you're trusting with something this important.
